PALMER — Valley Country Store and Fuel is gearing up to open a third location off the intersection of Trunk and Palmer-Fishhook Road.
Owner Matt Gittlein said they hope to open their doors to the public by the middle of November.
“We’re just a local business here. We have the two other stores- so, just looking to grow our business and looking for areas that we thought could use our services. And, that just kind of jumped out as a spot that we thought could use a gas station,” Gittlein said.
The upcoming Valley Country Store will be more than a gas station, according to Gittlein. He said it will have a convenience store, liquor store, laundromat, public showers, and home heating oil services, similar to their Church Road location.
“There’s a lot of traffic that goes by there and that’s a really growing area still in the corner of the Valley. There’s just not very much for services in the area,” Gittlein said.
The original store off Bogard Road does not offer home heating oil so this new spot will be the second to do so. Gittlein explained that the new location will be in a more rural setting where more people use propane to heat their homes.
“I think it will do well there,” Gittlein said.
Construction for the new store started last summer, according to Gittlein. He said they plan to hire 15 to 18 employees.
