WASILLA — Alaska Cab company is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the prosecution of a hit-and-run driver.
Guy Hibbert, who owns Alaska Cab, said one of his drivers, Christine Jarmer, was hit near the intersection of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and Luke Street late Saturday.
According to an Alaska State Troopers report, Jarmer was traveling east on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway at 11:20 p.m. when she was hit from behind while waiting to make a left turn onto Luke Street.
The impact sent Jarmer’s taxi into the ditch, and caused extensive damage to the rear of the vehicle, the report says.
Jarmer was wearing her seatbelt and escaped the crash without injuries.
The vehicle that hit Jarmer, then fled the scene, is described as a large pickup or SUV, light green in color, with damage to the driver’s side front quarter panel.
The cab Jarmer was driving had just been purchased from a highway department in Washington, Hibbert said.
Hibbert figures Jarmer escaped worse damage during the accident because she accelerated in response to the impact.
“She said she goosed it when she got hit,” Hibbert said. “It broke loose from the pickup.”
Officials are asking anyone with information to call the troopers at 745-2131 or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.
