The calendar might be reading mid-April, but the weather over the past several days definitely has a winter feel to it, and leaving many to wonder, in jest of course, if somehow they missed the spring and summer.

Many residents had a snowy Easter throughout Mat-Su and Anchorage, as some residents saw snow flurries start on Saturday and continue through Easter Sunday and Monday.

And the semi-winter weather is set to continue as snow is forecasted for the remainder of the week.

And while the temperatures dipped into the 20s and 30s last week, they will begin climbing back into the upper 30s and 40s this week and into the weekend, turning the precipitation into a rain-snow mix. Any accumulation will likely melt off as the temperatures rise throughout the day.

The Alaska State Parks also took time to remind residents that the ice is starting to get a little soft out on the waters and urges people to monitor ice conditions and use conservative judgement when planning to travel on the ice.

The Department of Public Safety has also extended the deadline for drivers to change over their studded snow tires from May 1 to May 15 due to “prolonged winter weather.”
