PALMER — Mat-Su College announces its 16th High School Art Portfolio Competition. The annual competition is open to all Alaska high school seniors and is a chance to win a full year’s tuition at Mat-Su College, student recognition on a bronze plaque on campus and a certificate of achievement.
The second-place winner will receive a six-credit tuition waiver at MSC and a certificate of achievement. Third place will receive a certificate of achievement. Competition entry forms are available at all local high schools and at the college art department bulletin board.
High school seniors must submit portfolios consisting of 12 pieces of art in any medium, with at least six being in one area of concentration such as drawing, painting or photography. Portfolios must be submitted to Mat-Su College on April 13 between 3 and 5 p.m., or earlier by prior arrangement with Suzanne Bach, Mat-Su College Fine Arts coordinator, at sebach@matsu.alaska.edu or 745-9755.
Last year’s first-place winner was Brooke Morgan from Wasilla High. Second-place winner was Melissa Gianopoulos of Palmer High. The third-place winner was Amanda Hunter from Burchell High.
