The Frontiersman staff will soon be busy working on its annual Summer Visitors' Guide for the Matanuska-Susitna area and is once again sponsoring a readers' photo contest so we can put the best pictures available of the Valley's magnificent scenery, animals and activities into the guide. The top winner of the contest will earn $100.
Any Valley or visiting shutterbug is eligible to enter the contest. Photographs must be taken in Mat-Su and meet the following criteria:
Depict a summer scene or activity;
Fall into one of four categories: scenic, outdoor recreation, portrait or wildlife;
Be the original work of the photographer, free of other copyrights; and
Be work not previously published in the Frontiersman or any other publication.
The photos must be delivered to the Frontiersman by 5 p.m., March 15.
Winners in each of the four categories will receive a $50 award and an overall winner will be chosen to receive the $100 grand prize. Winners will be featured in the visitors' guide.
The Frontiersman reserves the right to use any entry within the visitors' guide, or in future publications.
Photographs may be picked up at the Frontiersman after April 30. Entrants who would like to have photo(s) returned by mail may include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with proper postage along with entries. Call 352-2250 or e-mail editor@alaska.net for more information.
Entrants must include their name, phone number and mailing address attached to each photograph (do not write in ball-point ink on the back of the photo; felt tip is fine).
Frontiersman employees and their immediate families are not eligible to enter the contest, but may contribute photos for possible publication.
