Campus corner: After year off, Parisien is back to old form

Jake Parisien is back on the running trail, and back to recording stellar times. The former Palmer High School standout took a season off, but on Saturday the UAA sophomore showed no sign of rust. Parisien blazed through the 3-mile Sand Island Invitational in Hawaii with a time of 14 minutes and 44 seconds, placing him third among 29 competitors.

Two years ago, as a true freshman with the Seawolves, Parisien was named an All-American after posting a second-place finish at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships and a 17th-place finish at nationals.

Parisien is not the only Valley kid having some success with the Seawolves. Colony graduate Brad Truax was 21st in the men’s race. Palmer’s Emma Bohman was eighth in the women’s race.
