To the editor:
There is a song called “Same Ol’,” about no longer being willing to do the same ol’, same ol’ anymore. It’s time to quit accepting the same ol’, same ol’ in our state politics.
That is why I whole-heartedly support Bob Williams for lieutenant governor. Bob is leading a groundswell of support across the state that is testimony to his gracious style of listening and command of the issues.
Bob is an effective and committed leader who is well renowned in the Mat-Su and across the nation for expert teaching in mathematics. Bob grew up in Palmer with blue-collar working parents, graduated from UAF with honors, worked as a petroleum engineer for the oil industry, served in the Peace Corps, and has received numerous high profile national awards in teaching, too many to list here.
Bob and his wife, Connie, live in and have raised their family in the Valley. Bob isn’t just one of us, he is one of the best of us.
I have known Bob for many years as both teacher and colleague in professional development for teachers. He is an effective and expert leader who can herd cats in the same direction when necessary, with a kindness and a smile to boot.
If Bob doesn’t know something, he is relentless in gathering facts and different perspectives in order to fully understand the issues and then take action. His run for lieutenant governor is a perfect example of his personal courage and tenacity.
Bob is never one to sit back and complain. He takes positive action to keep from ever being more of the same with just a different name.
Bob is not the same ol’, same ol’. He is committed to a strong working middle class and a well-supported public school system. He knows the issues Alaska faces because he has experienced them. Bob is an Alaskan for Alaska.
We would do well to have Bob Williams in public office. He has my vote, and I hope he has yours too on Aug. 19.

Bob is the man we need in Juneau representing us all.
