Candidates thumb noses at bylaws

To the editor:

Our Matanuska Electric Association board elections have become a contest based on who has the most money, not who is the most qualified candidate. This is not the intent of the bylaws.

Our campaign bylaws state that a person or group can only donate $500 to a candidate’s campaign. That in turn means that a candidate can only accept $500 from a donor. Jones and Lester have accepted more than $25,000 from Ratepayers Alliance and are snubbing their noses at our bylaws. They have the responsibility to follow the bylaws and their intent to the highest level. They are not doing so.

I am calling for their removal.
