MyHouse Mat-Su Homeless Youth Center, True North Recovery and the Mat-Su Opioid Task Force are hosting the 6th Annual Candlelight Vigil to honor local lives lost to addiction.
The community is invited to remember friends and loved ones through a public reading of names, a group prayer, and opportunities to share stories.
Numerous people from all walks of life attended the 2022 vigil at the Gathering Grounds Cafe, holding electric candles and socializing with one another, sharing hugs and words of encouragement.
Cook Inlet Tribal Council Peer Recovery Supervisor James Savage previously told the Frontiersman this event is a valuable community event that helps a lot of people.
“I think it’s something that’s been important for our community since its inception. I hope this continues to bring advocacy and awareness to our community,” Savage said during the 2022 vigil.
