WASILLA — In an Alaska team’s first entry into the annual Business Professionals of America Virtual Business Challenge, a team of three from Mat-Su Career and Technical High School’s Chapter of Business Professionals of America took first place in the nation.
Business team members Kharissa Chasse, Mikayla Provo and Sierra Woodall ran a virtual computer repair shop during the repeatable three-month online timeframe. The competition was from March 3-20.
Competing with other student teams from around the United States, the goal was to make more money than the other competing 40 teams across the nation competing for the $1,000 prize.
According to team advisor and business teacher Amy Riddle, the competition was close until the last 10 minutes of competition, when the local team pulled ahead for the final victory.
