To the editor:
I am writing this out of sadness from the medical care I personally have received in the Mat-Su Valley. After a head-on collision in 1998, it has been like pulling teeth to get a doctor to listen to my complaints, without rudeness and misdiagnosis. A local doctor refused to even talk to me and my chart notes were discussed in a local EMT training course, this past January.
I am ashamed of the people and the spirit of greed I have met in this Valley and many people are not getting competent medical care, because of lack of concern from the providers. I guess it is all about money and religion these days.
Many doctors seem to hate Christians. I pray for this community as a whole, and hope that people learn to love one another and genuinely care about the health and well-being of their patients, friends, neighbors and even those they ignore and obviously dislike.
This Valley is Godless. I pray for all of you. I would bet that Andrea Yates' kids would be alive today if people would have actually cared and helped her bear her burdens, instead of judging, mocking and ignoring her.
I am ashamed of the Mat-Su, especially the Christian communities and medical care providers. May God help them show love and practice it.
