Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Carol Jean Meske Jensen, 70, died Feb. 4, 2006, from cancer, at her Wasilla home, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at noon ThursdayTracy 2/6/06 , February 9, 2006, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 901 E. Bogard Road, Wasilla. Public visitation will be at the church from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tom Jensen, Mitch Jensen, Karl Jensen, Don Bowman, Roy Thornton and Martyn Duckett.
She was born June 22, 1935, in Fort Atkinson, Wis. She received a general equivalency diploma. She came to Alaska in 1962 and resided in Kodiak until 1973. Mrs. Jensen lived in Anchorage from 1973 to 1975, and had lived in Wasilla since 1983. Mrs. Jensen worked for First National Insurance and Real Estate in Ennis, Mont., from 1975 to 1982; for Marston Real Estate from 1983 to 1995; Jack White Real Estate from 1995 to 1997; Prudential Real Estate from 1997 to 2004, and Double Eagle Investments from 2004 to 2005. She retired in 2005. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, golfing and family gatherings. She was named Realtor of the Year in the Mat-Su Valley.
Survivors are her husband, Louis B. Jensen of Wasilla; daughters, Rhonda Boyle of Sherwood, Ore., Jean Bowman of Orting, Wash., Michele Thornton of Green Acres, Wash., and Karla Duckett of Wasilla; sons, Thomas B. Jensen of Wasilla, Mitchell D. Jensen of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Karl E. Jensen of Wasilla; sister, Paula Pete of Spring Hill, Fla.; aunt, Ruth Habel of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Jessie Marie Westphal Meske Kutz; father, Harvey William Meske; stepfather, Karl E. Kutz, and brothers, Donald M. Meske, LaVerne L. Meske, George W. Meske and Richard Meske.
