I found the “cartoon” you published on Oct. 10 to be extremely offensive to me in the blaspheming of the name of God, the Creator of us all. Your printing of the disclaimer that the views of the so-called artist may not reflect the views of your newspaper doesn’t wash out the fact that you did, in fact, endorse his views by printing his work.
Have you actually heard Sarah use the name of her God in such a context? I doubt it.
Before you blindly use material that is furnished to you — regardless of how many awards the writer may have won — you need to think.Think of the fact that New York humor and popular culture falls flat with many of the people who live in the area that you attempt to reach.
You may squawk that I want censorship. If you define censorship as refraining from dishonoring the God of the universe, I stand guilty as accused.
While I’m stating my opinions, I will add the point that each time I spend money on your newspaper, I tell myself it will be the last as there is so little true Valley news. In fact, you only did a partial report of the Houston election results.
I can (and do) read other newspapers for information of what has happened in Anchorage and around the world. I expect the “local” newspaper to not be regurgitating their news from a couple of days back, rather to spend more time, money and energy in truly local activities and events.
