Catholic Schools Week starts Sunday

Did you know that Catholic School’s Week runs from Sunday through Feb. 6? Did you know there is a wonderful Catholic school right here in the Mat-Su Valley?

Our Lady of the Valley Catholic School is a K-8 school serving 60 students and their families. We are truly blessed to have so many wonderful supporters and donors who make OLV a reality. Our school is special because we are not only challenged academically with an outstanding curriculum, we also get to discuss our faith and improve our relationship with God and the world around us.

Due to the fact we are a small school; students receive lots of quality, one-on-one attention from teachers. You do not have to be Catholic to be a student at OLV. We have many different Christian denominations represented. Our class sizes are small, topping out at 20 students per room. Currently, we have a K-1 class, a 2-4 class and a 5-8 class. Students at OLV really enjoy the family atmosphere at school. Catholic education provides students with the faith, knowledge, morals and discipline they need to live fulfilling lives.

At Our Lady of the Valley Catholic School we go on fun and educational field trips around the state and are very active in our local Catholic churches. Uniforms are required daily, however, this past week; students were permitted to wear “street clothes” to school as long as they brought in money to donate to Catholic Relief Services. The money will be sent to Haiti to help with the relief effort there.

We say the Rosary every morning and attend Mass every Friday. Priests from Wasilla, Palmer and Big Lake celebrate Mass with us. Our Lady of the Valley is a very happy and peaceful place. Now, more than ever, a Catholic education is truly an investment in the future that is worth the consideration of every family. We welcome you to visit our school and see what we are up to. Our Lady of the Valley Catholic School will be having an Open House on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.
