“Typically we put all of our energy into this,” Lackey said.
CCS opted for another virtual event instead of the traditional banquet at Evangelo’s due to the pandemic.
“This felt like the right thing to do,” Lackey said.
The fundraising goal for Show the Love is set at $10,000. Lackey said they’ve managed to raise about $4,000 so far.
“We’ve had some really good donations already. I’m very optimistic that we’ll reach our goal,” Lackey said. “We know that we’ve got a lot of champions in this community.”
According to Lackey, CCS is faring well in spite of the employment shortage and other challenges caused by the pandemic. He said they’re currently seeking employees and they offer training services. He marveled at their current staff’s abilities to handle all the ups and downs at all their locations.
“Our staff has done an amazing job they’re dedicated to helping kids and helping families,” Lackey said. Our entire goal is setting up kids for success and life
CCS utilizes two federally based learning programs, Head Start (ages 3-5) and Early Head Start (age 3 and younger). They currently operate out of four locations in Wasilla, Palmer, Chugiak, and Meadow Lakes.
