Some basic help with starting your own business

At one time or another, almost everyone thinks about opening his or her own business. It is the American Dream. This is the land of opportunity, and you can be successful at anything if you are willing to work at.

That is the key to success: Anything you are willing to work at. Owning your own business is hard work. Sometimes you have to work 15 to 18 hours a day, seven days a week, and you may not draw a salary for two years.

Our goal is to continuously improve the business climate and build opportunities for growth in Wasilla and the Mat-Su Valley. We accomplish this through programs focused on advocacy, economic development, events and direct services to our members. We exist to help our member businesses succeed.

n Public affairs — Work with our members and elected officials at the local, county, state and federal levels to develop pro-business advocacy positions.

n Chamber events — Provide all of the planning and processing of chamber events held throughout the year.
