Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Longtime Alaskan Charles (Chuck) Nestle, 76, died Oct. 14, 2004, at Valley Hospital in Palmer, of pneumonia.
Mr. Nestle was born Aug. 22, 1928, in North Spencer, N.Y., to Daniel and Eunice Nestle.
He began his Alaska residency in 1948 and has lived in Palmer since 1951.
He joined the Army in 1952 at Fort Richardson. During his service he received an Occupational Medal and Good Conduct Medal while in Japan. He retired from Fort Richardson in 1985.
Mr. Nestle was a longtime member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge.
Mr. Nestle loved softball; a big fan, he helped out by taking score sometimes, and cheered his favorite teams on the sidelines.
He is survived by his daughters, Windy Jean Foscue and Mindy Rae Nestle; stepchildren, James Lee Richardson and Cindy Lee Gonzales; his special Palmer daughter, Angel W. Hopkins, and his brother, Bill S. Nestle.
A future announcement will be in the spring of 2005, when the flowers are blooming, on a date, time and location for a small outdoor service.
