Chase ends where it began

WASILLA — A man wanted on felony warrants in Anchorage led police on a chase in a motor home for about 12 miles Friday morning.

Alaska State Troopers say a tip led them to a location in Wasilla where they made contact with Eligah Brokenspirit Christian, 49, of Wasilla, about 10:35 a.m., April 24, according to spokeswoman Megan Peters.

During that contact near Mile 2, Church Road, Christian fled in a 2014 Coachmen motor home down the Parks Highway before turning around and driving back to the starting point of the chase. The chase eventually ended at the same location, Peters said.

“The guy got in the motor home and then drove away, and then they ended up going back there and pulling into the driveway and then getting out of their vehicle and cooperating with law enforcement at that point,” she said.

The chase ended about noon, Peters said.

At one point, Christian apparently rammed a trooper vehicle with the motor home, Peters said. Several patrol vehicles were damaged during the incident, according to trooper dispatch. A Wasilla Police Department vehicle may also have been damaged in the chase.

“Usually when something big collides with something smaller, the big thing wins,” Peters quipped.

Troopers reported no injuries immediately after the crash, Peters said.

An Anchorage Superior Court issued a $100,000 felony warrant for Christian Thursday. Christian was wanted for 37 counts, a combination of fraud, felony issuing bad checks, misdemeanor issuing bad checks, second-degree theft, first-degree theft, according to court records.

Facebook accounts described a motor home followed by as many as 10 trooper vehicles along the Parks Highway.

Christian was transported to and remanded in Mat-Su Pretrial with no bail until arraignments.
