CHELSEA RAE DAVIS

Chelsea Rae Davis, 15, died Aug. 11, 2005, of a cardiac arrest, due to complications from lymphoma, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, with her mother by her side.

A memorial service was held at the United Pentecostal Church, off Huffman Road, Monday, Aug. 15. A gathering of friends will be announced at a later date.

Chelsea was born July 25, 1990, in Anchorage, to Lela Davis and Mark East. Chelsea lived a short time in Girdwood and Chugiak, and then moved with her family to the Wasilla area, where she completed her freshman year at Colony High School.

Chelsea enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and had a passion for art. She loved to draw and paint, but had many other artistic interests. She also enjoyed the many family pets, listening to music and watching her favorite movies.

Her family wrote, "Chelsea was very loved by her family and friends. She was a very compassionate, giving and loving child. Her sense of humor, laughter and beautiful artwork brought joy to those who knew her. The loss of Chelsea has been devastating to her family, but faith in Jesus Christ is helping them to endure. 'Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.' (I COR 2:9)"

Chelsea is survived by her mother and father, Lela and Mark; sisters, Madison and Claire East of Wasilla; grandparents, Roger and Edith Davis; uncles, Ryan Davis of Homer, Tim Creary of Anchorage, Jason and Jacque Davis and children of New Mexico, Dave and Lynn Davis and children of California, Leroy and Sherry and children of Tennessee and Russ and Cheryl Jones and children of Washington; grandparents, Rich and Marj East of California and aunt, Tracie East of Wasilla.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Lula Davis; great-grandfather, Raymond Davis, and uncle, Jim Davis.
