Christmas tree stolen from Houston City Hall

A Christmas tree donated by the family of Public Works Director Garland Forschen went missing from the gazebo outside Houston City Hall sometime between Thursday, Dec. 20, and the morning of Friday, Dec. 21.

"The mayor said we should try and get a story into the Frontiersman and ask whoever stole our tree if they can return the lights after Christmas," said City Clerk Daleann Pond.

Pond and Mayor Dale Adams suggested the city put a tree in the gazebo, and the Forschen family happened to have an extra one. The Forschen's secured ornaments to the tree with twisted paper clips to wind proof them. The tree is artificial, about 5-and-a-half feet tall, and green.

"I came down this morning to put it back up because I though the wind might have gotten it," Forschen said Friday morning. "I saw bulbs going up Armstrong Road-- I think it went that way-- there's a trail of bulbs."
