Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

North Pole resident Christopher James Robinson, 21, died Aug. 27, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Robinson was born Feb. 23, 1983, in Fairbanks. He lived in Fairbanks, Delta Junction, Anchorage, Palmer and North Pole.
Mr. Robinson graduated from high school first in his class, winning a two-year scholarship to the University of Alaska. He completed his first year at the University of Alaska Anchorage and planned to continue his education at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He recently moved back to North Pole.
Mr. Robinson was an excellent baseball player. He played Little League for one year in Delta Junction and three years in Fairbanks. He was chosen to be on the Junior All-Star team that went on to win the All-Star tournament.
He enjoyed many types of music and was a talented artist. He loved to write poetry and twice won the Young Poets contest.
His loved ones said, "Chris was an outgoing and friendly young man who was well-liked by everyone. He made friends easily, having an easy manner and a wonderful sense of humor. His loss is deeply felt."
His mother said, "Chris is and always will be the light of my life. He was always there to help anyone who needed it, his heart and smile were big enough to share with everyone. He will be missed by all who knew him. His grandmother Kathi was privileged to have been able to spend a great deal of time with Chris and watched him grow up to be a sensitive, caring young man who was just starting to realize his full potential."
He is survived by his mother, Tina Marie Soles, of North Pole; daughter, Delia Roseanne Fisher, of Anchorage; grandmother, Kathleen L. Reynolds, of Fairbanks; grandfather, Gerald E. Robinson, of Soldotna; his mother's partner, Matthew A. Maurer, of North Pole; numerous relatives in the Lower 48 and many, many friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be sent to: Credit Union 1, Acct. No. 452888, 909 First Ave., Fairbanks, AK 99701.
