CHRISTOPHER STEVE WASKA

Born May 18, 1988, Christopher Steve Waska, 21, died Feb. 18, 2010, of stomach cancer.

Christopher was born in Anchorage and resided with his parents in Wasilla, then at Emmonak where he attended elementary school. In 2000 ,he moved to the Matanuska Valley and attended Palmer Junior Middle School and graduated with honors from Valley Pathways High School in 2006. He pursued his career with Alaska Job Corps in Palmer and received a certificate for carpentry and was awarded “Honorary Supervisor.”

Christopher respected and loved his parents and loved his siblings unconditionally. He got along with everyone he met, both young and old. He had a funny and outgoing personality. When others hurt him, he would forgive and forget and not seek revenge.

For 44 days after he was diagnosed with stomach cancer, Christopher battled his illness and accepted our Lord Jesus into his heart. He was blessed and anointed by a Catholic priest an hour before he passed away. He was surrounded by family and friends.

Christopher leaves behind his parents, George and Frieda Costley; brothers, Jeremiah, Byram and George Jr., of Sutton; sisters, Roberta of Anchorage and Katerina of Sutton; nephew, Johnathan; and nieces Isabela, Niomi and Anna.

His family wrote, “There are no words that can describe how much we miss Christopher, but his spirit of giving will remain in our hearts and by his memory we will pass on his love for life here on earth.”

Christopher was buried at the Emmonak Cemetery.
