Colony High School was honored with a GRAMMY Signature Schools Enterprise Award and a check for $5,500 during a ceremony May 2.

Voting member of the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Recording Academy and music industry professional Matt Hammer appeared at Colony for a presentation during the CHS assembly.

A total of 10 schools were named GRAMMY Signature Schools for 2013, with six schools across the country receiving an Enterprise Award for 2013 and a grant of $5,500 each.

The Enterprise Award category recognizes efforts made by schools that are economically underserved.

The GRAMMY Foundation was established in 1989 to cultivate the understanding, appreciation and advancement of the contribution of recorded music to American culture — from the artistic and technical legends of the past to the still unimagined musical breakthroughs of future generations of music professionals.
