The Mat-Su Ski Club and Colony High School will host the Colony High School Invitational Ski Meet Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25 and 26 at the Government Peak Recreation Area, at the end of the access road, Mile 1 Edgerton-Parks Road.
Fourteen high schools are set to participate in the races, which start at 1 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Pioneer Loop will still be open for public use but there will only be a narrow route to the Pioneer Loop on Friday. The Stadium and all other trails will have restricted use (classic skiing only on Saturday and yielding the trail right-of-way to racers both days).
Pedestrians must stay completely off the groomed surface of the ski trail. Please carpool if possible.
The free classic and skate skiing clinics normally offered at the ski area on Saturdays are canceled Jan. 26 due to the ski races.
