WASILLA — A citizen’s arrest led to indecent exposure charges being filed against a 56-year-old Anchorage man earlier this month.
According to police affidavits, Patrick Charlie was arrested by Wasilla Police Department officers for indecent exposure after allegedly exposing himself and urinating at Wasilla Lake Park on Sept. 5. The affidavit stated police were called to the park on the report of an intoxicated male. Upon arrival at the park shortly before 11 a.m., the complainant told officers that Charlie had pulled down his pants and urinated. The complainant told police there were children in the area and that his girlfriend also witnessed the event.
Police reported about 20 people, including adults and children, were in the park upon their arrival. Police contacted Charlie, stating it appeared he had urinated on himself but were unable to find any other witnesses to the event. After the complainant filed the citizen’s arrest form, Charlie was again contacted and subsequently arrested for two counts of second-degree indecent exposure.
He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and later released on his own recognizance. A Sept. 13 summons was filed and Charlie is scheduled for an Oct. 3 arraignment on the charges.
