MAT-SU — Candidate lists have been finalized for the upcoming Oct. 6 elections in Palmer, Wasilla and Houston.
Wasilla has three candidates running for the three-year mayoral term. In both Wasilla and Palmer, three candidates are in the running for two city council seats.
Palmer’s Oct. 6 polling places for voters will be the Mat-Su Borough building and the Mat-Su Borough gym. Candidates for each of the two three-year terms are Deputy Mayor Linda Combs, Councilwoman Sabrena Combs and Brian Daniels. If elected, the term lasts until 2023.
Wasilla voters will have a choice on Oct. 6 between Doug Holler and Wasilla City Council members Stu Graham and Glenda Ledford in the mayoral race. Tim Johnson is running unopposed for seat C, which is a three-year term. Running for seat D are Jo Lyn Bozer and Simon Brown II.
Candidates in both Palmer and Wasilla have until Aug. 7 to withdraw their name from consideration.
In Houston, Mayor Virgie Thompson is the only candidate running for the three-year term in seat A. No candidates have filed for seat B as of July 24.
