She was born on July 6, 1910, in Keyeser, Wisc., the daughter of Severt and Nettie (Swansby) Fosmark. On Aug. 3, 1929, she was united in marriage to L. Russell Berg at the Spring Prairie Lutheran Church. Mrs. Berg taught parochial school in Keyeser. She and her husband Russell owned and operated "Berg Mart" in Wyocena. After moving to the farm, her summers were spent working at a canning factory. She retired from Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena where she was a cook. For many years she helped at Smith Corner's Vegetable stand.

Mrs. Berg was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Pardeeville and their Ladies Aid. She was a past member of the Mercellon Homemakers Club as well as the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Her family said, "She loved to garden. She loved to visit, whether it was on the phone or company that stopped by for a visit. She cherished her family and their love for each other and the Lord. Life given us by nature is short, but the memory of a well-spent life is eternal."

Funeral services for Clara Berg were held April 19 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pardeeville. Pastor Edward Lindemann officiated. Following the funeral service, all were invited for lunch and sharing of memories, celebrating her life in the fellowship hall at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial was at the Spring Prairie Cemetery.

Mrs. Berg is survived by her eight children: Lorraine (William) Lund of St. Paul, Minn., Laurence Berg Jr. of Coloma, Wisc., Gale (Marvin) Olson of Palmer, Clarice (Steven) Rosing of Portage, and Paul Berg of Pardeeville and Daniel (Kathleen) Berg of Pardeeville; 31 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren; sisters Serene Olsen of Madison, Luella (Dutch) Roller of Madison and Alvina "Bec" Conradson of Alabama; numerous nieces, nephews, other near relatives and dear friends.

The family would like to thank the Ira Miller family, and daughters Martha, Leah and Elizabeth, who through their wonderful care and compassion, helped keep Mrs. Berg in her home as long as possible.
