Longtime Wasilla resident Clinton M. "Kink" Adcock, 77, died March 12, 2004, of cancer at his home.

Mr. Adcock was born July 3, 1926, in Rocky Ford, Colo., and moved to Alaska in 1948. He lived in Anchorage until 1956, when he moved to his Wasilla homestead with his wife and three children, where he resided until his death.

Mr. Adcock was a U.S. Marine Corps, World War II veteran, who was awarded the Navy Cross and Purple Heart for his participation in the assault and capture of Iwo Jima.

In the 1950s, Mr. Adcock was a commercial fisherman. He also began work as a heavy-duty mechanic for the state of Alaska, Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1981.

He was an active participant in building the Wasilla VFW Post 9365.

Mr. Adcock enjoyed hunting, fishing, building swamp buggies and rebuilding heavy-duty equipment.

The family wrote, "Clinton, 'Kink,' will be greatly missed. He will be remembered for his willingness to help friends and family. He was always ready to offer mechanical advice to anyone who called upon him. He was very proud of his three children, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing stories of his experiences and challenges driving to Alaska, homesteading, commercial fishing and hunting."

Mr. Adcock was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Ellen Adcock.

Survivors are his brother Milton E. Adcock of Anchorage; son and daughter-in-law Daniel and Christine Adcock; daughter Dixie Goldsmith; daughter and son-in-law Lynn and David Bryant, all of Wasilla; grandchildren Michelle Sande, Cherish Williams, Lisa Short, Rhonda Thompson, Lindsey Shelley, Derek Bryant and Lacey Adcock, all of Wasilla; great-grandchildren KayLynn, Olivia, Benjamin, Riley, Izak, Reese Ellen and Crystalina, all of Wasilla; and nephews Rick Adcock of Kenai and Russell Adcock of Anchorage.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to VFW Post 9365, Ladies Auxiliary, Cancer Aid and Research Fund, P.O. Box 872000, Wasilla, AK 99687.

Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
