PALMER — Palmer Church of God, Mile 40, Glenn Highway, is a collection point for “Operation Christmas Child” this year.
The goal is to fill 1,790 shoeboxes with gifts from individuals, families and groups for needy kids during Operation Christmas Child’s National Collection Week, Nov. 17 to 24. The goal is to give gifts to 10 million children nationwide this Christmas.
“Operation Christmas Child is a fun project that makes a tangible difference in the life of a child facing difficult circumstances. Anyone can participate, whether young or old,” said Palmer Regional Director Michael Ishmael.
Collection hours at the church are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon.
Since 1993, Samaritan’s Purse has delivered gift-filled shoeboxes to more than 113 million children in over 150 countries through Operation Christmas Child. For many of these children, a gift-filled shoebox is the first gift they have ever received.
