Colony baseball team blanks North Pole

NORTH POLE — Ben Ross and Brendan Jakeimiec combined to throw a one-hitter and lead Colony to a 13-0 win over North Pole Saturday in the Interior.

Ross allowed one hit and fanned six during four innings of work. Jakeimiec pitched the fifth inning of a game ended by the mercy rule.

The Knights hammered 16 hits in the win. Matt Palmer and Kevin Hale both finished 3 for 4 at the plate. Dalton McHugill, Layne Cottingham and Jakeimiec had two hits each. Ross smacked a home run, and drove in two runs. McHugill also had two RBI, and was one of five Knights with two runs scored.

Malemutes top Knights

FAIRBANKS — Lathrop rocked Colony with seven runs in the fourth, and held on for an 11-6 win over the Knights Friday in Fairbanks.

Colony led 4-2 before Lathrop erupted with the big inning. The Knights also scored a pair of runs in the fifth.

Ben Ross finished 2 for 3 at the plate to lead the Knights. Josh Finch and Kevin Hale added a pair of hits each. Ross scored twice. Five different Knights finished with an RBI.
