Colony boys advance to SoHi tourney finals; Palmer boys fall in Service tourney semis

SOLDOTNA — Colony used a fourth-quarter run to move into the championship finals of the Powerade/Al Howard Tip Off at Soldotna High School Friday.

Powered by a 19-8 fourth-quarter run, Colony scored a 67-53 win over Ketchikan in the semifinals, and will face Bethel in the final Saturday night.

Senior Damien Fulp and sophomore Bailey West each hit a trio of three-pointers in the win. Fulp poured in a game-high 28 points. West added nine.

Anton Chamblee chipped in 10 points, and hit a pair of shots from beyond the arc. Robert Sonnenberg added 11 in the win.

Bethel, a 3A program, beat host Soldotna 46-43 in the other semifinal.

Host beats Palmer boys

ANCHORAGE — Plagued by poor shooting, Palmer suffered at 58-34 loss to Service during the semifinals of the Cougar Tip Off at Service High Friday evening.

Palmer, which finished with one player in double digits in scoring, was held to 11 of 46 shooting and was 6 of 18 from the free throw line.

Senior Adam Ramoth drained five three-pointers and finished with a team-high 19 points.

Palmer plays East Anchorage in the tournament’s third-place game Saturday.
