ANCHORAGE — The Colony Knights have now beaten or tied the top two teams in the state.
About a week after posting a 1-0 win over previously undefeated West Anchorage, Colony played to a 2-2 tie against Dimond at Anchorage Football Stadium on Monday.
Junior Oliver Querin and senior Bridger Van Ness each scored go-ahead goals for Colony (4-0-1), but Pat Farrell posted the equalizer twice to help the Lynx salvage the tie.
The Knights actually took what they thought was a third lead late in the game, scoring with three minutes left in regulation, but referees waived off the goal due to interference with the goalkeeper.
“The call was made and the goal didn’t count,” Colony head coach Jeremy Johnson said by phone after the match. “We were able to get the tie out of it, but we could have had the victory.”
Querin, with help from Van Ness, gave the Knights the lead during the sixth minute of play. Van Ness, off a throw-in by senior Collin Murphy, scored in the 54th minute to push Colony to the 2-1 advantage.
Farrell scored his second goal of the game during the 74th minute to tie the score at 2-2.
Colony returns to Northern Lights Conference action to host Palmer tonight at 6 p.m. at CHS.

Senior Aaron Sharrow and junior Borja Angoitia scored for the Warriors.
Ryan Groeneweg posted a match-high two goals for Grace.
Wasilla (0-2-1) travels to the Kenai Peninsula to face Homer today and Skyview on Saturday.
