ANCHORAGE — The Colony Knights began defense of their 2014 boys state soccer championship with a 2-0 nonconference win over West Valley Thursday afternoon at The Dome in Anchorage.
Austin Richardson scored a pair of goals to help the Knights open the 2015 season with a victory. Zach Zmuda stopped five West Valley shots, and earned the shutout.
Richardson put the Knights on the scoreboard, converting a penalty kick during the 48th minute. Ben Sande drew the foul to set up the penalty kick. Richardson tucked a laser of a shot into the upper corner of the net on a direct kick during the 68th minute to give the Knights the 2-0 lead.
Wasilla plays West Valley Friday at The Dome.
