The Colony Knights scored a trio of boys basketball victories during a three-day tour of Fairbanks, which included a win at the buzzer.
Evan Gatton used a buzzer-beater to lift the Knights to a 49-48 win over 3A power Monroe Feb. 26 at Monroe Catholic.
The effort was part of a six-point fourth-quarter for the senior, who scored all 10 of his points in the second half. Patrick McMahon led the Knights with 19 points in the victory. Jace Underwood added nine.
The Knights trailed early. Monroe led 12-7 after the first and 25-19 at halftime.
Colony capped its trip with a 79-63 win over Lathrop Feb. 27. McMahon scored a game-high 30. Jeremiah Hersrud added 19 points and Underwood chipped in 15.
Colony also beat West Valley 68-58 on Feb. 25. McMahon led the Knights with 22. Hersrud scored 19. Ben Alley added 11 and Underwood scored 10.
The Colony girls finished 1-2 during the road trip. Colony beat Monroe 52-41. West Valley beat Colony 48-39 and Lathrop scored a 51-42 win over the Knights.
In boys action, West Valley beat Palmer 62-41 and Wasilla 57-55. Lathrop beat Palmer 62-53 and Wasilla 55-45. Monroe beat Palmer 61-45.
