Colony boys use late basket to beat Golden Bears in state tourney; Wasilla boys also advance

ANCHORAGE — Colony senior Hayden Summers pulled down an offensive rebound and hit the put-back with nine seconds left in regulation to give the Knights the 54-53 over the Bartlett Golden Bears in the quarterfinals of the ASAA/First National Bank 4A State Basketball Championships at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage on Monday morning.

Colony moves on to play West Anchorage in the semifinals Friday at 6:45 p.m.

Warriors roll into semis

The Wasilla Warriors scored a 69-46 win over the Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears during the first round of the ASAA/First National Bank 4A State Basketball Championships at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage on Monday.

With the win, Wasilla moves on to the semifinals and will play Northern Lights Conference rival Soldotna Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.

Senior Cody Pfeifer led the Warriors with a game-high 19 points, while fellow senior Drew Ford added 14 points and six steals.
