Colony boys win Anchorage track meet

WASILLA — Powered multiple wins by a pair of individuals and two relay victories, the Colony Knights cruised to the boys’ team title during the Pro Whit Championships Friday and Saturday at The Dome in Anchorage.

Brandon Nicholson won three events and Hunter Harwood struck gold twice for the Knights, who finished with 106 total points the team standings. Colony also captured the boys’ 400-meter and 800-meter relays.

Nicholson, the defending state champion in the triple jump, won the event Friday with a mark better than his state championship winning distance last season. Nicholson hit 45 feet at the Pro Whit. He won the state title with a mark of 43-9.25 last year. Nicholson also won the high jump Friday with a mark of 6-1, and the long jump with a distance of 20-1.

Hardwood finished first in both the 100 meters and 200 for the Knights.

Chase Stephens also scored a pair of victories for the Colony girls. Stephens led the Knights to a third-place finish in the team standings with victories in both the 100-meter hurdles and the triple jump. Kristina Tennesen won the shot put for the CHS girls.
