Colony boys win SoHi Invite swim meet

PALMER — The Colony boys notched a win in only one event. But the Knights finished first on the list that mattered the most.

Colony used 79 total points to finish first in the boys’ team standings during the Soldotna Invitational Saturday in Soldotna. Colony scored its lone boys win in the 400 freestyle relay, clocking a time of 3:34.89. Jonathan Cowin (200 freestyle) and Alexs Tokalich (100 backstroke) each grabbed second-place finishes for the Knights.

A pair of Colony girls scored first-place finishes. Joscelyn Barrette won the 100 freestyle and Jasmine Biederman placed first in the 100 breaststroke. Palmer won the girls’ 400 freestyle.

Colony’s Konnor Kolberg was the top Valley swimmer during the SoHi Pentathlon Friday in Soldotna. Kolberg logged a total time of 2:45.76 in the meet that requires athletes to compete in the 100 individual medley, 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 50 freestyle. He finished third overall for the boys. Cowin was fifth for Colony. Karson Kolberg was 10th for the Knights, who finished second in the team standings.

Colony’s Taylor Nelson finished ninth to lead the Knights in the girls’ standings.
