SOLDOTNA — Damien Fulp continued his hot start to his senior season and the Colony Knights tipped-off their 2013-14 campaign with a tourney title.
Fulp scored a team-high 29 points to lead the Knights to a 71-65 win over Bethel during the final round of the Powerade/Al Howard Tip Off at Soldotna High School Saturday.
Fulp and Anton Chamblee each hit a trio of three-pointers to help the Knights improve to 3-0 and earn the tourney’s trophy. Fulp, who averaged more than 26 points per game during the three-day event, was named the tournament’s most outstanding player. Bailey West, who chipped in 10 points Saturday, was named all-tournament. Chamblee added 13 against Bethel and Robert Sonnenberg posted 16.
Colony capped the game with a 26-15 fourth-quarter run and overcame the work of Theodore Naneng in the win. Naneng hit 12 shots from the floor and was a perfect 9 for 9 from the line en route to a game-high 37 points for the Warriors.
Colony scored wins over Nikiski and Ketchikan earlier in the tourney.
