WASILLA — Colony High School’s Drama Club will perform “Tarzan the Musical” at the Glenn Massay Theater on the campus of Mat-Su College Feb. 3, 4, 10 and 11.
The two-act play is based on the Walt Disney animated classic by the same name and features songs written by Phil Collins. Disney’s film was adapted from the 1914 novel by Edgar Rice Borroughs.
The classic centers around an infant boy, washed up on the shores of West Africa, and raised by gorillas which name him Tarzan. Apart from striving for acceptance from his ape father, Tarzan’s life is mostly monkey business until a human expedition treks into his tribe’s territory, and he encounters creatures like himself for the first time. Tarzan struggles to navigate a jungle, thick with emotion, as he discovers his animal upbringing clashing with his human instincts.
Curtain for each performance is 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults. For more information, call 861-5541.
