The Soldotna Stars continued to reak havoc on Valley hockey teams as they stunned the Colony Knights 12-0 at the Brett Memorial Ice Arena Friday.
The Stars blasted the Wasilla Warriors 10-0 the night before.
"We just came out flat, this is the flatest we have been all season," Colony head coach Dale Mattson said. "I did not expect this type of game. They beat us only 6-3 down at their place.
"It will open the kids' eyes, they have to earn what they get."
The Stars played aggressive and consistent on both ends of the ice and put immense pressure on the Colony net.
Knight netminders Nolan Rein and Alan Markus saw 45 shots on the night and combined for 33 saves.
Markus had a stellar second period stopping all nine shots he faced. Many of the nine shots were solid scoring opportunities.
"He has been coming along all season," Mattson said of Markus.
Kardinals 7 Knights 5
The Colony Knights scored a trio of third-period goals Saturday, but it was not enough to overcome the Kenai Kardinals. The Kardinals defeated the Knights 7-5 at the Brett Memorial Ice Arena.
Dean Shultz scored two goals to lead the Knights.
Matt Luthi, Travis Parker and Garrett Wilkins also scored for the Knights.
Alan Markus stopped 42 shots for the Knights in the loss.
