PALMER — The brackets have not been set, but the Colony Knights will enter the upcoming Southcentral Conference Championships as the top seed after capping an undefeated regular season with a 17-0 win over Palmer at Houston High School Monday evening.
Colony, the No. 1 team from the NLC North, will face the fourth seed from the South Division. Pairings are expected to be released late this afternoon. The tournament begins Thursday at Wasilla High.
Colony stayed undefeated with weekend wins over Soldotna and Kenai on the Peninsula. Jonathon Boyer pitched a three-hit shutout to lead Colony to an 11-0 win over Soldotna on Saturday. Boyer fanned 10 batters and only walked one. At the plate, Boyer drove in two runs and scored another.
Ben Ross hit a home run and knocked in three for the Knights. Logan Sanders added three hits and three runs.
Colony also beat Kenai 12-2 on Saturday. Jacob Butcher needed only four innings to earn the win on the mound. Butcher fanned six hitters.
At the plate, Butcher was 3 for 4 with a run and two RBI. Boyer scored two runs and collected a pair of RBI.
Sanders and Dalton McHugill also drove in two runs each.
Senior leads Moose
KODIAK — Senior Kevin Christopher doubled and cracked a home run to lead Palmer to an 11-9 win over Kodiak in Kodiak on Friday.
Christopher finished 2 for 4 for the Moose and drove in four runs. Senior Cameron Christiansen was 4 for 5 at the plate, and Elias Stratton was 3 for 3.
Justin Roth earned the win on the mound. Kodiak scored a 7-3 win over Palmer last Thursday. Christopher and Adam Christiansen had two hits each. Christiansen drove in all three Palmer runs.
