Colony girls fourth in Skyview Invite

SOLDOTNA — A trio of Colony Knights posted top-30 finishes to lead the Colony girls cross country running squad to a fourth-place finish in the Skyview Invitational at Skyview High School on Saturday.

Colony’s Alyssa Hutchins was the first Valley runner to cross the finish line in the girls’ race, completing the course in 20 minutes, 59.2 seconds.

Sydney Stewart (26th, 21:06) and Maria Wick (27th, 21:10) also finished in the top 30.

Abby Jahn finished 31st for CHS with a time of 21:18.

Hutchins edged Wasilla junior Katie Bialka by a mere 0.6 seconds to take 21st.

Bialka finished a team-high 22nd to lead the Warriors to a ninth-place finish in the girls standings.

Palmer finished 15th.

Colony also fielded the top boys team from they Valley in the invite. The Knights were sixth overall thanks in part to Tanner Enloe’s 22nd-place finish.

Palmer junior Wylie Manglesdorf was the top runner hailing from the Valley, finishing with a personal best of 16:55 according to Palmer head coach Tim Lundt.

Junior Baruch Chamberlin led the ninth-place Warriors with a 29th-place finish.

Palmer and Wasilla are both slated to compete in the Homer Invitational, which starts Friday in Homer at 4:45 p.m.

Colony and Houston will head north to race in the Interior Invitational, hosted by Lathrop on Saturday.
