Indiya Clarke used a 28-point night to help the Colony Knights open the 2021 Mat-Su prep basketball season with a 61-28 girls basketball win over the Palmer Moose Friday night at Palmer High School.
Clarke scored seven of her team’s 14 first-quarter points, as the Knights put together a 14-7 lead. She added 10 in the fourth quarter. Clarke finished with 12 field goals and was 2 of 4 from the free throw line.
Maggie Spencer added nine points in the victory. Hannah Dugiud chipped in nine.
Kinzey Hutchings led Palmer with eight points.
Colony held a 27-17 lead at halftime and outscored the Moose 34-11 in the second half.
Hawks split with RamsThe Houston Hawks used a quick start to score a 61-20 boys basketball win over the Susitna Valley Rams Jan. 22 at Houston High School.
Houston jumped out to a 24-0 first-quarter lead, and allowed only eight total points in the second half. Hayden Howard led Houston with 21 points on 8 of 12 shooting. Howard drained a trio of three-pointers in the victory. Braden Cork added 10 points. Cole Taylor led the Hawks with five steals.
In girls action, Su Valley used a late push to beat Houston 41-27. The Rams capped the game on a 16-2 run.
