JUNEAU — Mary Klapperich hit a late three-pointer to help Colony earn a 46-42 nonconference overtime win over Juneau-Douglas last Friday in Juneau.
Klapperich drained the three with 1 minute and 12 seconds left in the tiebreaker. The shot helped separate the teams, which spent much of the latter half of the overtime answering each other shot-for-shot.
Juneau hit a three-pointer early in the overtime frame to take a 40-37 lead, but Colony’s Izzy Tweed tied the game at 40. The Bears took a 42-40 lead, but the Knights answered again. This time, Jerica Nelson hit a shot to tie the game. Klapperich’s three-pointer gave the Knights the 45-42 lead.
Klapperich led the Knights with 14 points in the win and Tweed added 10.
On Saturday, Juneau salvaged the nonconference series split with a 37-31 win. Saige Stefanski led Colony with 14 points on Saturday.
In boys action, Juneau-Douglas swept the visiting Knights. Juneau, which improved to 6-0 overall with the wins, scored a 75-69 win on Friday and beat Colony 67-54 on Saturday.
Colony led 38-35 during the third period of Friday’s loss, but Juneau grabbed the momentum with a 21-5 run.
Hunter Eisenhower scored a team-high 14 points on Friday. Ten of those points came from the free-throw line.
Lance Ibesate scored a game-high 20 to lead the Bears.
