Colony girls swim, dive to Palmer Invite win

PALMER — The Colony girls and Kodiak boys took team titles on Saturday on the final day of the Palmer High Swimming and Diving Invitational at the Palmer Pool. Soldotna was second in both competitions.

The Knights amassed 91 team points to outpace Soldotna (79) on the girls’ side, while the Bears earned 111 points to lap the Stars (70) for the boys title. Camille Dayton and Jake Simmons each won a pair of events to pace the Knights. Dayton won the girls’ 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly, while Simmons claimed first in the 200 IM and 200 backstroke.

The Colony girls also got wins from Yanne Toussaint (50 freestyle) and Eileen Cyr (diving).

Colony’s Joseph Anderson won the boys’ 100 breaststroke and Wasilla’s Brayden Schachle won the boys diving competition to give the Valley a diving sweep. The Palmer boys and girls finished fourth, the Wasilla boys were sixth and the Wasilla girls took ninth.
