Colony girls win Ketchikan wrestling tourney

The Colony wrestling teams made the trip to Ketchikan, and the Knights brought home some souvenirs.

Colony won the girls team title and finished second in the boys team standings during the Bill Weiss Invitational at Ketchikan High School.

The Knights finished with 167 total points in the girls team standings and crowned five individual champions. Grace Loutzenhiser (100 pounds), Hayden Vanderpool (114), Braelyn Troxell (120), Cailynn Belgarde (138) and Haylen Hocking (152) each won their weight class.

Colony placed second in the boys team standings with 280 points, finishing seven points behind first-place Juneau-Douglas. Addyxus Echak (130), Luke Roderick (171), Thor Nelson (189) and Jackson Weller (285) earned individual titles. Rowyn Mayer (125), Kade Harmon (135) and Jake Olson (140) placed second.

The Palmer boys and girls finished second and third in the Glenn Vandergaw Invitational at Dimond High School.

Wyatt Wilson led the Palmer boys with a title in the 130-pound class. The Moose had 282 points in the team standings. South Anchorage cruised to the team title with 507.5. Johnny Martinez (135), Cayson Mastberg (140) and Elijah Raben (160) placed second.

Palmer had a pair of individual titles in the girls tourney. Lillie VanSiegman (138) and Linsey Flores-Romo (185) each finished first. Juliann Giauque (107) placed second.

Triston Charley (boys 189) and Jayli Jones (girls 138) were both second for Redington.

Taylor Cooley placed second at 100 for the Wasilla girls.

Colony also sent a team to the King of the Mountain tournament in Seward.

Tanellei Trebizo (114) and Lily Groundwater (132/138) placed first for the Colony girls, and Alexis Mitchell (120/136), Arien Sanderson (132/138) and Brielle Binder (152) were second.

Kaden Ortiz (160) and Maverick Remaklus (285) won their class for the Colony boys. Joseph Richmond (112), Hudson Vanderpool (119), Dawson Folcik (145), Mac Nelson (152), Kenneth Jackson (160), Dmitri Prosser (171) and Tristan Humphrey (285) were second.

Wasilla also sent a team to Kodiak.

Taryn Wright (126/132) and Brynlee Lutz (145/152) were both first for the Warriors girls, while Danielle Steiner (120) and McKinley Hafen (165/185) placed second.

Corbin Lutz won the 145-pound class for the Wasilla boys. Andy Pair (103), Brigg Pettijohn (112), Cameron Toston (130), Sylis Dinwiddle (160), Max Moat (215) and Casey Weber (285) were all second.

Eli Banks (140), David Twitchell (171) and Ethan Spencer (189) placed second for Houston.
