Colony senior Hallie Clark scored 19 points to lead the Knights girls basketball team to a 54-31 win over host Dimond during the championship game of the Dimond Lady Lynx Shootout Feb. 8 in Anchorage.
The Knights moved into the championship game with a 58-38 win over Northern Lights Conference rival Mountain City Christian in the semifinals. The Knights led the Lions 25-23 at the break, and outscored MCC 33-15 in the final two quarters.
Colony opened the tournament with a 77-7 win over West Valley.
Palmer was also part of the eight-team field and finished 1-2. The Moose edged Ketchikan 47-45 on the second day. Barrow beat Palmer 57-26 in the fourth-place game.
The Moose also suffered a loss to Dimond in the first round.
Clark and teammate Ally Shelley, and Palmer’s Presley Wright were named to the all-tourney team. Clark was also the tournament’s most valuable player.
The Wasilla Warriors earned a pair of nonconference girls basketball wins at Juneau-Douglas over the weekend. The Warriors beat the Crimson Bears 67-34 on Feb. 7. Savannah Kroon and Mylee Anderson led Wasilla with 16 points each. Layla Hays and Mielee Merchant added a dozen each. Wasilla jumped to a 22-7 lead early in the game.
Wasilla followed with a 46-30 win the following day. Hays scored 17 points. Anderson added 11.
In boys action, Wasilla earned a 64-57 NLC victory over Grace Christian.
