Colony girls win Palmer Invite swim meet

The Colony Knights earned the girls team title during the Palmer Invitational Saturday at the Palmer Pool.

Jasmine Anderson used a pair of first-place finishes to help the Knights post a meet-high 120 total points in the girls team standings. Anderson won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 breaststroke races. Lori Houghton also scored a first-place finish, winning the 500 freestyle. The Knights earned wins in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Colony’s Jasmine Biederman was the runner-up in the 200 individual medley and 200 breaststroke. Joscelyn Barrette finished second in the 50 and 100 freestyle races. Merica Miller (200 freestyle) and Josephine Rogness (100 backstroke) also placed second. Houghton was third 200 freestyle and Asha Gerteisen finished third in the girls dive.

Palmer was the runner-up in both the girls and boys standings.

Ally Ferguson led the Moose girls with a pair of wins, finishing first in the 100 and 200 freestyle races. Ally Hrncir was also first in the girls dive. Addie Charton (50 freestyle) and Emily Stocker (500 freestyle) placed third.

Palmer finished with 54 total points in the team standings.

Stewart Sawyer won the 100 butterfly to lead the Palmer boys, who finished with 60 points in the team standings. Palmer also won the 400 freestyle relay and was second in the 200 freestyle relay. Connor Lee was second in the 50 freestyle and third in the 100 breaststroke. Lucas Ruda was second in the 100 freestyle and London Lee was third in the 500 freestyle.

Kristofer Vangorder led the Colony boys with third-place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle races. Xander Backus was third in boys diving.

Kade Reynolds led the Wasilla boys with a win in boys diving and his teammate, Deshawn Campbell, was second.

Audrey Dietz was second in the dive to lead the Wasila girls.
