After leading his team to its fourth state title in school history, David Elliott has been named the Gatorade Alaska Boys Soccer Player of the Year.
Elliott scored a goal during Colony’s 2-1 overtime victory over South Anchorage in the ASAA Division I boys state championship game in May. His goal in the 84th minute broke a scoreless tie.
Elliott, who recently graduated as part of Colony High’s class of 2023, scored 22 goals as a senior. He led the state in goals and added 12 assists for the 20-1-1 Knights. The 5-foot-4 forward has committed to play soccer for Tacoma Community College in Washington.
Elliott is the second player in program history to win the award. Noah Krozel earned the honor in 2018. Elliott is also the second Colony athlete to be honored by Gatorade during the 2022-23 school year.
Junior Jack Nash was named the Gatorade Alaska Football Player of the Year.
