PALMER — Thursday marked the 75th anniversary of D-Day, and the Colony High School marching band was in Normandy, France, part of the center of the celebration.
The band’s trip itinerary features five different performances, including memorials for U.S. veterans and a town square parade. Thursday, the band performed an array of patriotic songs, including music from the film, “Saving Private Ryan.” The group from Colony High, which was invited by the D-Day Commemoration Committee, is among 13 total bands from the high school and college levels attending the ceremony.
A total of 138 people are part of the Colony High group that made the trip to France for the events.
